Search

View Building Photo

SIMS allows you to search for a building photo using an address or parcel id.

View Building Photo

  1. The View Building Photo task is displayed in the Tasks list in the Console.  Click on the View Building Photo task item to open it.
  2. The View Building Photo task opens in a new element window within SIMS.  This element window may be moved, collapsed, and closed. See Getting Started for details on using moveable windows.

  1. Enter the address or parcel id that you want to search for.  You can type in the full address, i.e. 224 W 9th St, or a parcel id, 012216309009000.  You can use upper or lower case.  However, do not spell out the direction (use n, s, e, or w) and do not spell out the street type (i.e. avenue, use ave).  This is not an address match, but an exact match search.
  2. Click Search to start the search.
  3. The Results section expands in the Console to display results of the Search (if it does not expand automatically, click the down-arrow in the Results section to display it). The text searched for displays in the results item.
  4. If features are found, a plus button appears next to the results item. Click the plus button to expand and explore the results. The example below shows one possible result of a search using View Building Photo.

  1. To view the photo, click on Open Photo.  It will open in a new browser window.  Note:  This layer is dynamic and is constantly undergoing revisions.  There is a small percentage of addresses that do not have a building photo available.

  1. Optionally, Right-Click on the desired address in the results window to zoom to, pan to, or remove the result.
  2. To look at the building photos without going through this exercise, zoom in (to ~ 1 inch = 0.5 mile), and the address point layer will turn on as orange buildings.  To select the building photo, you can use the Identify tool, and then to view the photo, click on Open Photo, in the Results section.
