Download Plat Book Pages
The plat book pages contain numerous complex labels. For that reason, instead of having them available as numerous layers within SIMS, they are available as digital documents (pdf). These are updated at the first of every month, and can be accessed three ways.
a. Bookmark this link or save it to your pc.
b. After opening the Plat Book Directory Map, hover over the map with the hand tool and click on the section that you would like to view or save to your computer.
a. If you don’t need a map to use as a reference, go directly to the Plat Book Directory.
b. Download one or download them all.
3. SIMS (Sioux Falls Interactive Mapping System)
a. You can download individual plat book pages from within SIMS.
- After launching SIMS,
In the Console, display the Map
Contents item, if necessary, by clicking the down arrow
. Check the box next to
“Download Plat Book Sections” to make the layer visible.
- In the Toolbar, click the Identify button.
. The button changes to
a pressed appearance 
. - Click inside the plat
book section that you want to view/download, an identify icon
will be placed on
the map at the location clicked. After a few moments, an entry for the
Location should appear in the Results section of the Console. The Location will display
the coordinates of the location clicked. - Expand the location by clicking on the plus image to the left of the coordinates in the Results section. This displays the names of layers where features were found.
- Expand the Download Plat Book Sections layer to see which features were found. Then, expand the plat book section name (township, range, and section) that you would like to view/download.
- Select Download and the associated pdf will open up with the software designated on your computer. If desired, you can save this file to your computer.
