Find Address

SIMS allows you to search for an address using either an intersection or a street address.

Find Address

  1. The Find Address task is displayed in the Tasks list in the Console.  Click on the Find Address task item to open it.
  2. The Find Address task opens in a new element window within SIMS.  This element window may be moved, collapsed, and closed. See Getting Started for details on using moveable windows.

  1. Enter the address that you want to search for.  You can type in the full address, i.e. 224 W 9th St, or an intersection, 9th and Dakota.  You can use upper or lower case.  However, do not spell out the direction (use n, s, e, or w) and do not spell out the street type (use ave, st, dr, blvd, etc.).
  2. Click Find Address to start the search.
  3. The Results section expands in the Console to display results of the Find Address (if it does not expand automatically, click the down-arrow in the Results section to display it). The text searched for displays in the results item.
  4. If features are found, a plus button appears next to the results item. Click the plus button to expand and explore the results. The example below shows one possible result of a search using Find Address.  Keep in mind the Find Address searches on parcels, address points, and streets, so the best response to your query may not be the top item.

  1. The results display one or more layers where features are found. Click the plus button next to a layer to display features found. For more details on using the Results window, see UsingResults.htm.
  2. Right-Click on the desired address to zoom to, pan to, or remove it.
